Hospitality is our act of protest against an isolated and lonely world.
David Richter
As God made us for community, we need community to help us apply the gospel to our lives.
Composed of six to twelve people, Neighborhood Groups are small gatherings of people who meet in homes throughout East Nashville during the week to share a meal, discuss the Bible, pray, and serve our neighborhood. All groups are led by trained leaders from the congregation who receive continued oversight and support from our pastoral staff. It is our hope that everyone who attends City Church regularly will be involved in a Neighborhood Group.
The primary goal of Neighborhood Groups is to develop and foster real Christian community where Jesus Christ is experienced in His presence and power. Thus enabling our members and regular attenders to be transformed through mutual ministry and experience of life in the family of God.
It is within these small communities that men, women, and children, can build personal relationships and practice applying the gospel to their lives. These groups provide sanctuary from the pressures and anxieties of life in the city and facilitate the formation of deep friendships. Moreover, they are the primary place where people are known and cared for at City Church of East Nashville.
